2022:

Meet in the hotel bar from 7.30pm on the 2nd Friday during the 'closed' season, October until April, at the Bedford Hotel, 1 Plymouth Rd, Tavistock PL19 8BB Phone: 01822 613221.
Parking at rear of hotel.

Area 12 covers the South-West of England, with members from the counties of Devon and Cornwall, although members from Somerset and further afield often join us.
The Area always has a full calendar of events throughout the year.

The Area started about 25 years ago when I bought a 1.6 Kallista (which needed a lot of renovation).

I was put in touch with other members in the region and we started meeting monthly. We tried several venues in an effort to reduce the driving distance to the meet.

Over time however our membership base has moved Eastwards and once again to reduce travelling time and distance we moved from the Arundel Arms in Lifton and relocated to the Bedford Hotel in Tavistock. This hotel provides good food and atmosphere.

2021:

Area 12 and all members.

Noon July 4th. Assemble at Louis Tea Rooms, Callington, Cornwall PL17 8AX. For a coffee or light lunch, then drive through Tavistock and over Dartmoor, stopping at a well known view point before passing the Merrivale Quarry which supplied a lot of cut granite for London’s buildings and the memorial on the Falkland Islands to those that fell in 1982. We then drive behind the infamous Dartmoor or Princetown Jail, built in 1809 and housed French POW’s from the Napoleonic War and American POW’s from the War of 1812, before descending to Dartmeet. From here we go to Ashburton, pick up part of the old A38, then the A385 and head for Totnes (Sandal CitySmile with tongue out). From Totnes we either follow the road to Paignton or Dartmouth to use a ferry across the River Dart – this will depend on the accessibility of the ferry with its loading ramps.

Following Les Miller we head to Brixham ( a famous fishing town) and the Berry Head Hotel for a Devon Cream Tea – Clotted cream on first in Devon. Contact Andy Graves so he can book in the numbers.
