Grand Gathering: A Journey from Ireland

I purchased my first Panther (Lima) in 2024 for a simple reason — in my opinion, among all vintage cars that have survived to this day, Panthers are simply the most beautiful cars one can find. Perhaps it was more than just the shape; it was some kind of connection.
A couple of months later, I was lucky enough to expand my Panther family and add a Kallista to the garage. Since then, I have spent many hours getting familiar with The Panther Car Club and its resources, chatting with members on social media and via email, and of course exchanging technical advice and parts.
When I recently received an email from Val about the Grand Gathering, I was excited and knew I had to be there — and both my wife Anna and I made it!
(Thanks to the Kallista’s two-seat layout, we had to leave the children at home and instead enjoyed a wonderful weekend together, which we both really needed.)
It was a long journey of about 12 hours each way, as we live in Ireland: a 4-hour drive to the ferry, about 4 hours on the ferry (we were glad to have booked a cabin, which gave us some rest before the next leg of the journey), and another 4 hours to the event location.
What can I say — every minute of the trip and the event itself was worth it!
The breathtaking Welsh landscape will stay with us for a long time. We deliberately avoided the main motorway, instead driving through forest roads, lakes, and parks.
Eventually, after the long journey, we arrived at Hatton Estate and parked at our first (but certainly not last) GG. The first thing that struck me was that I had never seen a De Ville or a J72 in real life before, and I was lucky enough to find both there. What lovely cars!
After exploring them, many Limas and Kallistas arrived, and another surprise for me was that no two cars looked identical.
We had great conversations with other owners — my sincere thanks to each and every one of them for sharing their experience with me. It was an incredibly valuable event, and I truly feel this is one of the greatest benefits of owning a Panther: the Club and its people.
To my surprise, I was presented with a certificate for the longest journey to the Grand Gathering, having travelled all the way from Ireland. It meant a great deal to both Anna and me, and we are truly grateful for this recognition.
The stay at Stratford Manor Hotel (including a visit to Shakespeare’s house), the excellent dinner, and the party with live music and dancing were simply the cherry on top.
Both my wife Anna and I are grateful to all fellow Club members and are already looking forward to the next Club event.
