Bromley Pageant of Motoring Sunday June 12th 2011

We were once again given our usual stand at this years show and the weather forecast for the day was not looking good. Roz and I went over to the Norman Park show ground on Saturday afternoon to put up the tent and take over the tables and chairs ready for the show. As a few of the regulars were not able to make it this weekend, I was only expecting 12 Panthers to come. I decided to put the tent in the centre and park the cars in 2 pyramid formations. I marked out our pitch accordingly to help with the positioning of the cars as they arrived.
Roz and I arrived on our stand at 8.30 on a stormy looking day shortly followed by Tony who helped to sort out the stand including the positioning of our new area banner. As the cars arrived they were parked in the formation Kallista’s on one side and Lima’s on the other. The weather turned and it started to rain as Roz was cooking the Bacon rolls for everyone, a lift up of the table and cooking continued inside the tent, and the tonneau and roofs went on. In the end 5 Lima’s and 6 Kallista’s turned up. The rain eased and turned to drizzle while most had a visit to the autojumble. We all met at 1.00pm back at the tent to have the buffet lunch that everyone bought a dish for. What a lot of great food on offer. The drizzle continued most of the day with short rain bursts. Due to the miserable weather cars were starting to leave from lunch time onwards. At 3.00pm the rain stopped and by 4.00pm the tent had dried out enough to take down especially as the weather was looking bad again. The last of us left as soon as the back up car was packed, As soon as Roz and I got home and unpacked both cars, down came the rain really heavy and stayed all night. I would like to say thank you to everyone that came and hope for better weather next year.
