WHAT A SHOW
NEC 13TH 14TH 15TH NOVEMBER
The Club took a huge step forward with the success achieved at the NEC Classic Car Show with a display of Panthers never seen together in one place before. Gaining enormous publicity through out the Classic Car press and the expected appearance of the Panther 6 really did cause a stir amongst journalists. Nicholas the owner was nervous at letting the car out of his sight just as much as we were to have responsibility for it and the build up to the show was both stressful and difficult with no end of problems but we all came through in the end.
With the Panther 6 winning the “Car of the Show” what an achievement and thanks must go to everyone who did so much in assisting me in putting a stand together that any club would have been proud of. The Panther Marque certainly received the credit it deserves with a first for the Club with Terry Borton exhibiting on the Meguiar’s stand and with the show bringing in members with some of our rarer cars to whom we extend a warm welcome, it certainly must be considered the highlight of our Calendar for 2008. Equally amazing was the award bestowed upon myself of Classic & Sports Car “Club Personality of 2008”. It was indeed a surprise and I thank you all for assisting me in being considered and winning this award and with the Club Hero article in there latest issue I am truly flattered.
2 Awards at the NEC Classic Car Show 2008 what an achievement and indeed something we should all be proud of and we know how great it is to own a Panther and belong to such a super club now we have taken another step or should I say leap forward in letting the world know too. All this could not have happened with out the dedication of those that put so much time and effort into making the event successful so on your behalf I thank them all. Especially Jim Dempster, Mick Laplain for giving up so much time to collect all the equipment and bring to the show and helping to set the scene. George & Tony for staying over four nights transporting us about setting up the stand and minding the Rio. Dick Curry for shipping the Rio from Ireland to us (good to meet you also Dick), Ian Adams, Steve Vine, Martino Benedictis, Russ Parsons. Ray Bridges, Nicholas for showing there cars and all the behind the scenes people and businesses who helped especially Jeremy Satherley’ who made sure our Press release was the business!!!!! Last but not least to all those who visited us on the stand thank you for your support especially Roland and Geli and Theo and Bert who travelled from Germany and Holland respectively
The entry form for the NEC Classic Car Show 13th -15th November 2009 has been posted so what will 2009 bring !!!!! now that’s another challenge.
