BROMLEY PAGEANT OF MOTORING 2009 SUNDAY 14th JUNE

Once again The Panther Car Club attended this event. Putting on our biggest and most varied display yet. I was hoping for a full set of Panthers, but on the day the Rio broke down on route and had to return home. However, we did manage a collection of 5 models totalling 17 cars, 1 Mk1 & 3 Mk2 Lima’s, 2 Deville’s (Salon & Conv), J72, Solo, and 9 Kallista’s (4 x 2.8, 3 x 2.8i, 2 x 2.9i), with members coming from 6 counties, including Devon.
Two of the Kallista’s on display were only bought by their present owners 6 weeks earlier and were attending their first club event (I must say both cars were good buys as they were in excellent condition) The weather was sunny and we all tucked in to bacon rolls mid morning with tea and coffee served all day, many thanks go to Roz. The show as always had lots of stunning cars and displays by the other clubs. Some of them came over to us and said what a lovely display we had, but unfortunately the judges did not agree as we did not win any awards this year. But hey that is not what it is about; we did interact well with the public who showed a lot of interest in our cars.
At least 8 past and present Panther owners dropped in on to our stand during the day to catch up on news. The auto jumble turned up a few items for our members. Afterwards we had a short convoy drive to a local pub for a roast dinner.
Perhaps next year we will manage the set?
