Area 12 Christmas Bash

Area 12's Christmas dinner dance this year was to be held at the "Hotel California" in the UK's surfing Mecca of Newquay, the hotel stands in a prominent position overlooking the river Gannel with views of Crantock beach in the distance.

Sue Smith had organised a full and thoroughly enjoyable weekend for the 23 Panther car club members some of whom had travelled from as far away as Basingstoke, Watford and Staffordshire to join in on this weekend of fun, relaxation and celebration. The hotels facilities were available to all which included the spar and indoor swimming pool. On the Saturday some early arrivals took it easy, in and around the hotel, whilst others took in a Christmas shopping trip to the Cathedral city of Truro.

After meeting in the bar for pre dinner drinks the evening proceeded with a wonderful traditional 5 course Christmas dinner being served almost flawlessly which was quite an achievement for the kitchens and waiting staff of the hotel as the dinning room held over 180 diners that evening, the wine flowed throughout the evening, and the wine waiter made regular visits to one table where both, retired Air force and Navy members were seated.

After the meal we headed downstairs where tables had been reserved for us around the dance floor with everyone joining in, the dancing continued into the night.
The following morning after "the full English" some members headed off on their journey home whist others joined in a round of ten pin bowling in the hotels own four lane bowling complex which included an American grill serving coffee etc, the game was very exciting as ladies bowled against gentlemen, throughout the game it was neck and neck, after the ladies drew ahead they were pronounced this years champions.

So until next year my friends, wishing all members and their families a very Merry Christmas and a peaceful New Year,
when we will do it all again.
