St Marys (wheel meet again) Motor Show 2006
The weather forecast for the day was early morning rain moving north. At
nine O'clock the clouds were grey, as Robert, Bernard and Roz and myself
left in convoy from our house with hoods down and fingers crossed that the
forecasters were right.
Apart from the sprinkling of rain as we crossed
the Thames at Dartford and the odd patch of wet roads the rain stayed away
on the journey to Bishops Stortford. When we arrived Vic, Mike, Steve,
Sharon, George, Tony and Jim were all ready there. Ray, Val, Lyn, Ian and
Luke arrived shortly afterwards. Ray had a very wet drive down from
Melchbourne, so the weather forecast was right as it did not rain all day
at the show.
This show is run by St Mary's Catholic School. It is
sponsored by local car dealers and is a mixture of new and classic cars.
After our free Bacon rolls supplied by the organisers we set up our stand.
We had 10 Panthers on display which made us one of the biggest car club
stands.
Interest was shown in our cars all day including one chap who has
a J72 in his garage only 1 mile away, gave him club details (Said he would
bring it next year). A picnic lunch was laid on by Ray and Val to
celebrate their Anniversary. (Thank you from every one.) This show
contained 3 different Jaguar SS100 look alike's, The J72, The SS and the
Steadman among the many cars on show.
