Gawsworth Hall Car Show
We have been invited to the Youngtimer Show at Gawsworth Hall, Macclesfield for post-1970 cars, to be held on Whit Bank Holiday Monday 31st May. The early May Gawsworth Classic Car Show that we usually attend has been cancelled. This later Show is permitted under the government pandemic timetable, I have been told it is usually quieter than the early Classic Car Show.

Area 12 and all members.
Noon July 4th. Assemble at Louis Tea Rooms, Callington, Cornwall PL17 8AX. For a coffee or light lunch, then drive through Tavistock and over Dartmoor, stopping at a well known view point before passing the Merrivale Quarry which supplied a lot of cut granite for London’s buildings and the memorial on the Falkland Islands to those that fell in 1982. We then drive behind the infamous Dartmoor or Princetown Jail, built in 1809 and housed French POW’s from the Napoleonic War and American POW’s from the War of 1812, before descending to Dartmeet. From here we go to Ashburton, pick up part of the old A38, then the A385 and head for Totnes (Sandal City). From Totnes we either follow the road to Paignton or Dartmouth to use a ferry across the River Dart – this will depend on the accessibility of the ferry with its loading ramps.
Following Les Miller we head to Brixham ( a famous fishing town) and the Berry Head Hotel for a Devon Cream Tea – Clotted cream on first in Devon.

2021 Trip to Spain.
The trip I planned for Spain this year has been postponed until 2022. The new date for it is June 8th.2022. The itinerary will remain the same.
Depart Plymouth on the 29th September (this avoids being too close to the end of the ‘Peaks Tour’), leaving Santander on 14th October. The first hotel is the Parador in Corias, near Cangas de Narcea for 4 nights. It’s a relatively new addition to the Parador chain, looks amazing inside, and was a 16th Century monastery. It’s an area I know nothing about (as yet!), but a drive alongside the river Navia looks to be scenic according to my recent Michelin maps.
Then Toro for 4 nights. Nicola,
our member here, is arranging a
trip or two and a wine wasting.
Finally Potes for 6 nights. Both these places need no introduction.
It might be possible to shorten the trip by reducing the nights (and price)
in Toro and Potes to 3 nights in each if desired.
The full price is £2086 per car, per couple, Club4 outside cabin and B&B in
all hotels. A discount of 15% might be available bringing it to £1780.60.
