Grand Gathering 2005 at Banbury

Rewarded with good weather for our 2005 Grand Gathering at Upton House where we had exactly 60 cars.

On the way in we had a "Guess the Width of your Panther" competition. The winner estimated the gap he could get through to within 1/2 " of the width of his Panther!

The cars were parked herringbone along the drive and proved an impressive sight

For the first time we had a best Engine Bay Competition, won by Jim Dempster, who also won the Best Lima on show

Best "Other Panther" was Ray Bridges' Deville, while Dave Luker had the Best Kallista

Thank you all who came, helped out and made the event such a success

From here they were asked to guess the width of their car by signalling to David Prag (just in front) who would move the flag poles to their desired positions before driving through, when the difference was measured. The winner was just ½ inch wider than his car.

The Engine bays were very kindly judged by an unbiased official from Upton House who had his own Ideas as to how an engine should look. As can be seen the competition was fierce although light hearted.

It has to be said that the Engine bays displayed were a real credit it their Owners and were a great source of interest to the General Public visiting the House.

Now it’s Party Time

For those that stayed over for the weekend it was Party Time as we combine our Annual Grand Gathering with a Dinner and Dance. The Hotel was good, the food was excellent and the company was outstanding. I think it is quite safe to say that a brilliant weekend was had by everyone.

On behalf of the membership I would like to thank the Committee and all of their helpers for another brilliant GG. They seem to get even better every year.
