Wadebridge Wheels 2008

WHEELS 2008

LUCKILY FOR US the date for Wheels had been changed to the 20th July, I say lucky because we would have been away on our solo Panther tour to Lake Garda on the normal date for Wheels. The entry tickets were delivered to our home on the day we were leaving for Italy so we thought it would be easier to hand out the tickets on the gate just in case they didn’t reach everyone in time, so we headed off towards Wadebridge in what we thought was plenty of time but did not allow for the fact that roads works just outside Bodmin would add around 20minutes to our travel time, by the time I arrived Bruce and Louise along with Doug and Elsa were already at the stand. Sue had brought tables , chairs , gas ring and other essentials in her car so we started setting up ready for Andy and Mary to arrive with the gazebo, what we didn’t know is that they were running half an hour late with their convoy from the Plymouth area, when the convoy arrived it was all hands to the pumps (not sure if that’s a fire-fighters saying or not “Geoff”) and within a short time the Panther area looked as good as always, gazebo erected , kettle on the boil, 12 gleaming Panther cars in place including the re-appearance of John Beal’s Lima being driven by It’s new owner Chris Ogbourne (welcome to the club Chris), the Panther flag fluttering in the cool but gentle breeze and as puffy white clouds came and went the day flew by, out of the breeze temperatures raised to around 24c.

Once again everyone had rallied around to provide a fantastic spread of food and drink for all to enjoy during the day. The Panther stand had a good flow of visitors throughout the day including a visit from club members Russell and Sue Carthew who were displaying their Jaguar at the show this year. Sue and I would like to thank everyone from area 12 for their continued support at “wheels” and we hope that our visitors Pam and John from Basingstoke, Elsa and Doug from Gloucestershire, Louise and Bruce from Surrey all enjoyed their visit to the show and we look forward to seeing them again soon.
