THE WINTER RECOVERY WEEKEND FEB 2005.

This years Winter Recovery Weekend had all of the ingredients to make it a complete success, which it was of course!. From careful planning of both the location (Cambridge) & the venue (The Moat House Hotel) which was done by Val Bridges ably assisted by Lynne Knapp. Val also ensured that the attending dedicated members were able to enjoy the city & its surroundings by providing local information. The all important weather behaved itself if a little seasonally cold. Mave & I chose to walk the inner city & then completed a scenic tour on an open top bus brrrrr!! Friday evening was a relaxed "chit chat" evening whereas on Saturday everyone including some local, for the meal only, visiting members donned best attire for a long table evening.

The 2nd year of the Chairman's "Mystery Prize" raffle was well received & supported by all, thank you. Plus of course many & varied conversations both social & technical.

Some details of the 25th celebration Grand Gathering were also pervading. On Sunday morning after breakfast we were greeted by Ben Hogan who came especially to show us his newly acquired DeVille Saloon, the one that was built for Oliver Reed no less.

After a photo shoot by the DV some commenced their journeys home, whilst the majority visited Ely including its magnificent cathedral. Followed by a pre-booked Sunday lunch. After that, goodbyes were exchanged (plus a sneak preview of the limited edition 25th year tee-shirt, wow!), then it was homeward bound - The recovery process being 100% complete, except for a couple who needed an extra night. It was that good ! Thank all for your company. TERRY BORTON.
