NEWS FLASH"TRIP NOW FULLY BOOKED" 12 cars are now booked for this trip, sorry no more rooms available.

Back in April 2005, we in Area 2 organized a weekend in the Lake District. We were based at the Skelwith Bridge Hotel (between Ambleside and Coniston) The weekend was very successful (see report in mag No 135. The location, the food, the weather and the company were of the highest order. It was suggested that we could repeat the venue for another year, so I am giving early notice of a hotel booking for the weekend of Friday March 31st – Saturday April 1st. Last time we had six cars, two from distant parts of the country. The dates are at the end of their Winter Weekends offer which is for Dinner B & B for Friday and Saturday with a complimentary Sunday lunch included. Alan Shaw

The Grand Tour - Cape to Cape 2006 This is a Classic Car Tour over a challenging 1,300 mile route which will see participants setting off from Cape Cornwall to Cape Clear which is on island off the south west coast of Eire.
The assembly point for the tour is the Tregenna Castle Hotel, St Ives on Saturday 22nd April 2006 and the finish is on Friday 28th when there will be a gala dinner overlooking Rosscarbery Bay. The Tour is limited to 40 cars.
This is the third Tour organized by Cornishman Dennis Greenslade who is a previous winner of the International Historic Car Rally of Great Britain and former National Classic Trials Champion four times over. The Tour is not a timed event but will not be an easy drive as Dennis has used his extensive motor sport knowledge to plan a route which will take in venues of historic motor sport interest.
Peter and Liz Davies entered the 2005 event which ran from Cape Wrath to Cape Cornwall in our Classic trials prepared Panther Lima Mk1. We thoroughly enjoyed the camaraderie, the scenic routes, the links with motor sport and the excellent hotels that Dennis had laid on. We are happy to talk to anyone wanting background information. Telephone 01452 813954.
It would be marvelous if we had a representative selection of Panthers on this FUND RAISING event; all our cars would qualify as pre-1985 or “interesting cars”. The cause, Macmillan Cancer Relief, is extremely worthwhile, the first two events have, together, raised almost £100,000 for the charity.
Entry forms are available from the Event Secretary, Noelle Wilton, on 01209 211442 or at nwilton@macmillan.org.uk. The entry fee of £1135 covers accommodation, breakfast and lunch and/or dinner for two people during the event and ferry crossings for the car.
All who enter the Tour are committed to raising funds for Macmillan Cancer Relief through sponsorship from friends and family. If you cannot enter yourself, but would like to help, please send your contribution to Mr. Peter J Davies, Overdell, Longridge, Sheepscombe, STROUD, GL6 7QU, United Kingdom.

2006 Event

The 8th North Devon Classic – Sunday 4th June 2006

You were one of the 128 entrants in last years Classic. Despite the worst weather in the history of this event we still raised over £3,500 for the North Devon Hospice!
Last year we offered the option of driving either 100 or 60 miles, which we will be repeating this year - you can choose which you would like to do by ticking the appropriate box on the Entry Form – but the start and finish points are different from any that we have used so far!!
The run will start from Woolacombe, a pretty village overlooking a bay with a 2 mile stretch of golden sand! Not surprisingly this is one of Devon’s premier holiday spots! We have use of the main car park overlooking the beach and signing on, complimentary tea, coffee, bacon sandwiches etc will be available at the adjoining Red Barn.
The runs will end at the South Molton Vintage Rally – a two day event for everything ‘vintage’ of the wheeled variety, but with lots of other attractions too. Here you will be given a cream tea and your Completion Certificate signed by our sponsor – Nigel Mansell OBE. There should also be a photograph of your car to take home.
I invite you to once again participate in the Classic. All you have to do is complete the enclosed Entry Form (which you can freely copy and hand out to friends!) return it to me with your cheque and I will do the rest. I look forward to hearing from you and greeting you on the day.
Yours sincerely

BROMLEY PAGEANT OF MOTORING 2006
SUNDAY 25th JUNE

Following our 3rd place in the special display section at last years show we have applied for one of the special display areas at this years show, enabling us to exhibit 15 panther cars. The Kent area of the Panther Car Club has attended this event for the last 24 years.
If anyone is interested in attending the Bromley Pageant of motoring which is the Worlds biggest one-day car show with over 3,000 classic and vintage vehicles on display and a regular audience of around 30,000 visitors each year. Then please contact me on 01689 852250. The show is held in Normans Park, Bromley, Kent, from 10.00am until 5.30pm and to be on the display you need to be there by 9.30am at the latest and will not be able to leave before 4.00pm. The show site is split into sections, The 3 car club displays, the club special displays, the auto jumble, the commercial vehicles, the arena and the one make parking area. Any Panther on the special display will be sent an entry pass for the car and 2 people. The organisers say that new traffic plans will be in place to avoid the congestion experienced in 2005. PROPOSED TRIP TO FRANCE

Tucked away in a delightful rural location, in Brittany, we have discovered ~Les Moulins du Duc”. This is a converted water mill of great character with an indoor pool and sauna. We thought this would make an ideal venue for a Panther trip. We would depart the 1st. week in June and would stay for 7 nights — very appealing since the hotel offer 7 nights for the price of 6! At this moment we only have this years prices and do expect a small increase. The package will include overnight ferries with cabins plus half board at the hotel. We would travel out from Portsmouth to St. Malo and return from Caen to Portsmouth. The total cost per person, with 2 sharing, would be in the region of £542 .00 p.p. Unfortunately numbers will have to be limited. If you are interested please contact:

SEA TRIP

This year our boat will be moored in the historic port of Boston.
On Sunday 16th July we propose a voyage down the tidal Witham into the Wash which, for those not au fait with the East Coast, is an inland extension of the North Sea, and not some sort of launderette!
On a warm summer’s day it can be very pleasant, calm seas, exposed sandbanks, seals, seabirds, other pleasure boats and freighters going to and from the Wash ports.
If, however, weather conditions on the day make the trip, in the skipper’s opinion, too risky, an alternative trip up the non-tidal Witham in the direction of Lincoln, will be offered. Victuals will be provided.

Would any Panther members who might be interested or who wish for further information, please contact Sally or Phil on 01775 711070.
