ESSEN CLASSIC CAR SHOW

After our big success at the NEC Classic Car Show in November, the Panther Car Club has been invited to show at the Techno Classica in Essen - the biggest Car Show in Europe. It really is a big step forward for us to display our cars in a major event overseas but we are up for the challenge. It is a 5 day show so will mean a lot of time and hard work for those willing to attend with their cars and also to man the stand. A support vehicle will be needed to transport all the equipment if we are going to match the professionalism displayed at the NEC in November. We also need to ferry the work force to and from the show each day. Those travelling with their cars will do it at their own expense and time but it would be great if some sponsorship or donations were received towards the cost of the support vehicle, no matter how large or small!!!!!! .
We will be representing both the Club and the Panther Marque so let’s do it in style at this very prestigious event. More details about the show are available if required, please contact me by return.
If we have any multi lingual members in the club, to converse with the predominately German speaking audience, it would be great to have you along.

Tour of Ireland

North to South Ireland along the West Coast.
26th June - 5th July 2009.
We have been asked many times by members to organize a trip to Ireland. After our good friends and neighbours did such a trip with the Riley club and came back with glowing reports, Ray and I decided it was a must for the Panthers. Armed with their file full of details and tips from them on how to improve the experience, it was on. We found out that our UK member, Steve Moore from South Quay travel, was an expert on Ireland when we asked for some help and advice on the hotels already recommended. He not only went through our planned itinerary, but adjusted it, recommended better hotels and got us a very good deal both at the hotels and on the crossings. I can’t thank Steve and his workforce enough for all the time and energy they have put into this trip for us. We will be travelling from North to South Ireland along the West coast staying in a variety of hotels on route on a Dinner, bed and Breakfast basis. The price is very competitive at £699 per person based on Twin /Double occupancy including ferry crossings. The trip is already proving very popular and the full itinerary of our proposed trip to Ireland is outlined below.
Click here to download yourComplete Tour Guide

It is anticipated that travellers may want to stay overnight near the port of departure on the night of the 25th June ready for their choice of crossing on the 26th from either:
1) HSS Holyhead/Dun Laoghaire Depart 10.25 arrive 12.24 or
2) HSS Stranraer/Belfast Depart 14.40 arrive 16.40
It is anticipated that the majority will choose option 1) with our Dutch friends taking option 2).
The return crossing on 5th July will be Rosslare/Fishguard Depart 0800 arrive 10.00
Hotels and itinerary are as follows:
Friday 26th June 1 night HB Ballygally Castle Hotel, Ballygally.
Saturday 27th June 1 night HB at Great Northern Hotel, Bundoran
Sun 28th/Mon 29th June 2 nights HB Renvyle House Hotel, Renvyle, Connemara
Tue 30th/Thu 2nd July 3 nights HB Riverside Hotel, Killarney
Friday 3rd July 1 night HB Midleton Park Hotel, Midleton
Saturday 4th July 1 night HB St Helens Hotel, Rosslare
A deposit of £100 per person, payable to Val Bridges, is required for me to secure room and ferry crossings. Final invoices will be sent to you in April. Depending on numbers, we anticipate that participants will make their own way from hotel to hotel in small groups and we will all meet up for dinner each evening. Routes and places to visit on route will be advised well before departure and it is hoped that our Irish members will be meeting up with us during our visit. If you wish to join this trip, please contact me with your deposit and ferry preference as soon as possible.

The PCC GG “goes to the seaside”. (Bucket and spade optional)

This year’s Grand Gathering will be held at Lodmoor country Park in Weymouth, Dorset.
The park boasts a Sealife centre which is unique among the network of SEA LIFE attractions in that its numerous marine life exhibitions are housed - not under one roof - but in separate pods within a landscape that also hosts a number of other outdoor features. The latter includes otter and seal sanctuaries, and the Park's resident colony of Humboldt penguins.
Indoor displays include the Tropical Shark Nursery, teeming with black-tip, bonnet head and other species of sharks; the spectacular Turtle Sanctuary with its walkthrough underwater tunnel; and one of the first National Seahorse Breeding and Conservation Centres.

I.O.W classic car show

Once again we are travelling to the I of W sponsored by Wightlink Ferries crossing Portsmouth to Fishguard or Limington to Yarmouth . There are limited crossings so it’s on a first come basis. Travel will be on the 18th September unless other crossing requested in advance.
The two shows are on the 19th September at Newport Quay and the 20th at Ryde seafront. This show is well attended by many car clubs and is one of the biggest displays of different model cars, including custom cars and bikes the club attends. Our accommodation once again is at Buntshill Barns Porchfield where our host Ken Shynn accommodates us splendidly allowing us to use a barn to put our cars at night also.
The accommodation is in self catering converted Barns with each bedroom having its own bathroom. To allow us to relax in the evenings and not worry about driving and finding suitable parking for the cars we have over the past few years dined in having 4/5 course meals together in the larger of the Barns where we all contribute and produce our specialties.!!!!! This has been a huge success over the years and made the whole visit a very sociable and economical experience.
We extend the weekend and most stay until the Wednesday those wishing to do this will be given priority for accommodation at Buntshill. Alternative accommodation close by will be booked if necessary for those only staying 2 nights. Our journey home will commence on Wednesday 23rd September after what I am sure will be a fun packed few days.
If you have already put your name down to take part could you email me your preferred crossing Port, date and times for each way. Please note Monday crossing is not available unless a supplement paid. There is a show participation cost of £4 per person to the organizers in advance so please send a cheque payable to V.
